Week 2 - trying to get some momentum

 Jun 16- 20, 2025

  • Reading paper Measurement and Modeling of Polarized Atmosphere at the South Pole with SPT-3G to discuss in Cosmo Coffee next Tuesday.
This is taking me way longer than expected, and it's honestly really frustrating. I stop to Google a concept every 30 seconds, but I guess that's how it's supposed to go.
  • Went over Lecture 1 of Cosmology Summer School
  • Attended Cosmo Coffee and CLASS weekly meetings
  • Met with Rui on Friday, and she helped me with the installation of Dpipe and Moby2. We couldn't figure it out, but we made good progress

Still really frustrated with this week's progress. I was feeling pretty down about still not being able to set up Dpipe and Moby2. In my mind, they were just simple libraries that I needed to install, and somehow I couldn’t forgive myself for not being able to do it in one afternoon, as I thought it was going to go. After getting Rui’s help, I actually felt better. She told me it also took her forever to get them working, which made me feel more validated in my struggle to get them set up.

  1. Keep on pushing! Get ahold of Joseph Eimer if the dpipe build is still causing problems. I may yet give it a try... It's good you're working through the atmosphere paper. It will make you think more deeply about the time ordered data and its connection to noise in the maps.
